The International Space Exploration and Colonization Company
(ISECCo)
will be holding their annual Workfest Saturday, May 21 through Tuesday
May 31, 2005 at their research facility, Mars Base Zero, on Goldhill
Road. The goal of
this year's Workfest is to get some of the squares planted (but not
all: in 2005 we are going to be using multiple plantings over the
summer, with multiple harvestings starting (hopefully)
mid-August. We will also be doing some work on the structure,
with modest upgrades to the interior walls and, time & money
permitting, finish the roof.
This will entail finishing insulating the last 2/3 of the roof; putting
down plywood and finally shingles (right now it is kept tarped to keep
the water out).
ISECCo is a local non-profit all-volunteer organization which has been committed to the advancement of space colonization since 1988. Critical to the human habitation of space is life support technology which includes sustainable food production. ISECCo has built a semi-Closed Ecological Life Support System facility in preparation for a fully closed system. We are operating the facility to achieve a balanced diet that minimizes crop area and maximizes yield.
