Description:
- Square B is the southwestern most square in Mars Base Zero.
- Bounded on the north by square A, and separated from square A with a loose concrete block wall 3 blocks (2 feet) high..
- Bounded on the west by the west wall.
- Bounded on the south by the south wall, which during the summer
is usually open, and during the winter is usually 1 layer of visqueen
(plastic sheeting).
- Bounded on the east by square D, and separated from square D with a loose concrete block wall 3 blocks (2 feet) high.
- Soil bed description, from the bottom up:
- Floor
- Heating pipes
- 2 layers greenhouse visqueen (this kind is more impervious to UV, with is important in the areas that stick up above the soil)
- 4" sand
- 15" soil
- Size:
- 10' 7.5" (3.2 m) east/west by 11' 4" (3.5 m) north/south
- 120.4 square feet (11.26 square meters)
Usage History:
- Prior to 2004 this square didn't have soil and was only used for storage
- 2004 planted in potatoes
- Fertilized during the 2004 closure with 61.615 liters of urine.
